Dr. Gerry W. Beyer is a nationally recognized expert in estate planning, wills, trusts, probate, and guardianship. He joined the Texas Tech University School of Law in 2005 as the Governor Preston E. Smith Regents Professor and retired from full-time teaching in 2026. He is a highly sought-after lecturer who regularly presents continuing legal education programs nationwide.

Prof. Beyer has received numerous honors for his teaching, scholarship, and contributions to the legal profession, including induction into the Estate Planning Hall of Fame in 2015, the Distinguished Probate Attorney Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, and the Isabella Award in 2025. He is the author of numerous books and articles on estate planning and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the REPTL Reporter. He earned his J.D. summa cum laude from The Ohio State University and his LL.M. and J.S.D. from the University of Illinois.
